New York Scrappy stayed red hot recording his 3rd win in a row and 5th in 2026.

In Friday’s 3rd Race at Saratoga, the 5-year-old Solomini gelding went straight for the lead in the 6 1/2-furlong, $45,000 Allowance Optional Claimer with Flavien Prat aboard. This time it was back on the dirt as the June 7th win at Saratoga came on the turf. Rounding the far turn it turned into duel on the front end as Ricardo Santana, Jr. went with Kenny Be to challenge Scrappy. Kenny Be took the lead a few strides before the final furlong marker, but it was never more than a head as Scrappy battled back and retook the just before the sixteenth pole and continued on to win by a neck at the line in 1:18.36.

“He’s doing so good” said trainer Ilkay Kantarmaci following the race. “Flavien (Prat) gave us a great ride as usual, he’s the best.”

The 5 wins in a year is a new stable record and New York Scrappy now sits one win behind Smokin’ Hot Kitty for the most wins in our stable’s history.

Congratulations to partners Ilkay Kantarmaci and Zilla Racing Stable on the win
